How can I change this world?

Refrain from fantasies of another world in which things will be better or problems don’t exist.  I am telling you now the solution that you seek has always been available to you and does not require a massive change in the world around you.  If you listen and practice this simple method, you can find peace without requiring the world around you to be any different than it is at this moment.

Be still and know that I am always with you, I would not ever have you feel alone or unwanted in this world.

Quiet your mind and ask for its healing.  Do this as a matter of habit on a daily basis.  I would have you recognize negative or judgmental thought for what it really is, a form of attack on yourself and your brothers and sisters.   If you truly want to change the world, then let us start with our own mind.  Sewing the seeds of love and peace quietly and wishing no harm on ourselves or anyone else.

Expect from the world not what it can show you, see it only as a catalyst for proper response.  Each observation is an opportunity to respond with love and forgiveness.  Each interaction with your brothers and sisters is an opportunity to be compassionate and joyful.

Don’t overthink the doings of the day.  Do what you must to survive in this world.  Make ethical and moral choices that seek to heal separations between you and your brothers and sisters and recognize the truth of our true self.

Avoid actions that separate yourself and others into tribes or cliques.  Follow the example of the great teachers of this world that sought to unite human kind to a common cause.  Our common cause is love and forgiveness, the healing of minds, and the cessation of attack.

To this very day I remain with you committed to our mutual cause.  There is simply no place for me to go as to be without you is to not be truly myself.  We cannot be what we are destined to be without one another and without all others.  Know this, all have the capacity for awakening and the awakened present no danger to you or our loved ones.

What I perceived on this day: How to heal the mind

The following I believe to be a teaching from my inner guru:

Be quiet and know that I am always here with you.   It is in the peaceful moments,  where the mind is still,  that you can feel the presence of love and know this to be true.   Do not fear the quandaries that this world presents nor perceive them as a puzzle to be solved.  It is only in remaining still in peace, quieting all thought,  and allowing your feelings to flow freely that you can rest in the knowledge that everything is as it should be, right now, right here, in this moment.

Know that your consciousness, in this moment, is not bound by time or proximity to anyone or anything.   You are as safe now as you have ever been and will always be.  Do not look back on troubling events in the past and worry or be concerned about what will be tomorrow.  Here and now,  in this moment only, can you find peace.  Allow yourself to become aware of the love and compassion you feel for all beings, by quieting thought, this will become apparent.  Quiet the inner cynic who remains certain this will not work,  those thoughts are useless and irrelevant,  they produce nothing of value.  Quiet the anxious coward who builds defenses against foes that do not exist,  fear has no place in the heart of peace.  Quiet the judgmental critic who tirelessly looks for fault in everyone and everything, nothing real can be found at fault.

By looking within and finding the place of peace we can begin to heal our minds.  This healing of the mind is always available and never denied.  You will never be rejected when asking for the mind to be healed.    It may take time and patience,  the healing may not be apparent at first,  through dedication and perseverance you will find this to be true.  Only in peace will you find the exact nature of who we really are.   Only in your heart, in this moment, will you find a place of refuge that can never be denied.   It is your eternal home where comfort can always be found and the sacred connection that we all share is realized in joyful harmony.

Knowing that, in reality, the mind has already been healed the following prayer serves as an example of a prayer of thanks for this healing:

Gracious Source of Healing,

In humble gratitude, we thank you for restoring our troubled minds. Your love and compassion have brought us peace and clarity. May we cherish this newfound wholeness, embracing each moment with gratitude and grace.

Amen.

Allowing the world to heal: How can I help to make the world a better place?

The following I believe to be a teaching from my inner guru:

Make no mistake,  there is an awakening happening in human consciousness.  In every locale, every culture, every nation, and every religious belief system,  people are realizing the true nature of who they are and embracing our true Self.  Although the world seems steeped in fear, aggression, and violence,  underneath it all,  there is an awakening of being.  There is but one problem you must contend with in this existence and that problem is the insanity of the egoic mind.  A simple study of human history will show this to be true.  The standards of behavior for human culture throughout this world include immense hostility, cruelty, and the institutionalized abuse and extinguishing of human life.

Our world is currently at a crossroads.  In one dimension, there is the egoic reality of power, control, unhealthy attachment, and aversion to allowing others to choose their own path.  On another, there lies the delicate and inevitable blooming of a new world guided by awareness of being, the reality of unmeasured love, boundless compassion, the sharing of unbridled joy, and a peace beyond all understanding encompassing complete acceptance of everything as it truly exists in this timeless moment.  Rest assured that a new understanding of conscious existence will emerge even if the road ahead is tubulent for history yet to be seen.  Remember that the passing of decades are but the flash of an instant in the grand unfolding of our ineludible destiny.

What can we do to aid in the healing of human consciousness and unfolding of the awakening?  Practice patience; the caterpillar cannot be aided in its metamorphosis, it must emerge from the chrysalis in its own time.  Remain present and aware; receive the healing of fear-based thinking that is given to you in unlimited abundance in this moment.  Do not entertain the ego’s desire to compose horror stories of future tragedies, do not engage its fantasies of vanquishing evil and crushing those who it deems unworthy, do not wish for a better tomorrow simply know that its dawn is inevitable.  The awakening will happen through the forgiveness of ourselves and all others and the realization of our mistaken path of subjugating the wicked and achieving a justified dominance.  This is at the root core of the ego’s fallacy,  the idea that there is a distinction between what it views as good and evil.  Allow the destructive madness of the ego’s desires of righteous intention to slip away and dissolve in the winds of time.  Return to the breath and celebrate each realization of the moment as though it were your first.  Do this faithfully and with a full heart lacking all doubt.  Be calm and know that peace is always with you; it is ever present and lies just beneath the noise the ego propagates.  It is only through the peace of complete acceptance that we will progress towards a better future and a new awakening with all others, not one left behind.

How to liberate ourselves from unloving thoughts and enjoy freedom

You should have a clear idea of what a fear based thought is now.   Do your best to remove these thoughts from your mind in a continual process.   In order to do this we use the tools of forgiveness and love.   Love everyone without exception.   This does not mean you allow yourself to be stepped on or disrespected by others.   It simply means that our responses to what we perceive are driven solely by love without attempts to restrict its flow.    How do we do this?  Here are some guides:

My response to unloving thoughts:

  • Recognize the thought as unloving
  • Realize that I too have been unloving
  • Forgive myself for my unlovingness
  • Forgive the object of the unloving thought
  • Let go of attachments and aversions to the object
  • Enjoy freedom

This is a very simple method that may not be easy to employ in your daily life.  Nevertheless,  with practice,  the benefits become abundantly apparent.   A new sense of freedom will arise and replace the dread of pain generated by fear.   We will no longer shy away from others and be willing to engage with them openly.   We will finally see that our lives are intertwined and connect in ways we didn’t realize.   Compassion for ourselves and others will fill our hearts.   Events that once evoke a response of anger and frustration will now be met with a joyful smile and light hearted humor.   We will finally realize our place in this world and no longer desire to control it.   Restlessness will disappear and be replaced by a contented peaceful heart.   Fear and doubt will leave us and we will face the world with a new found confidence.
